Prepare your quilt backing:
It's essential to ensure the backing fabric extends past the quilt top by 4 inches on all sides or 8 inches longer and wider than the quilt top.
This extra fabric allows for proper handling during quilting and helps any potential shifting or misalignment. By following these guidelines, you'll achieve a professional finish for your quilt.
Example:

Quilt Top: Quilt Backing = Quilt Top + 8"
Width: 70 Width: 78
Length: 80 Length: 88
Binding: width*2 + length*2 + 10" = linear plus 10 inches
(70*2) + (80*2) + 10 = 310 inches of binding
